SVDP is a well organized and highly recognized network of friends helping neighbors in need. Many resources become available to Conferences that may solve or streamline current or future challenges.
Yes, the Grand Rapids District Council hosts orientation for all new Conferences and members.
The Home Visit is the core activity of every Conference. Other areas such as food and clothing distribution, disaster recovery, Voice of the Poor, advocacy, social works and other activities are found within Conferences around the globe.
We'll help you get started with a seed grant. After that, the Conference raises and disburses funds at its discretion. As an existing 501(c)(3) charitable organization, we will provide you an EIN to be used with your bank account. Usually Conference president and treasurer are on the account. Each year a summary of financial activity will be requested for reporting.
No. The Grand Rapids District Council will cover national council membership dues.
Four is the minimum (president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer), but successful Conferences have 10+ members. Many hands make light work!
Any parish, school or company within the 11-county Diocese of Grand Rapids may start a new Conference.
